Well written! It’s good to know that the game is still solid despite the growing pains the series seems to be going through. I’ll get to this after I finish up BG&E HD!

Totally agree with this review — fix the camera and you have classic on your hands here.

Good review, but disappointing for me as I was very much looking forward to this game. Since GameFly actually sent me Dead Rising 2 on time, I guess I’ll wait for a price drop on this one and save my moon bucks for Comic Jumper!

I’m glad to see this get a good port, because more people should get to play it. That being said, I love my iPhone version and will save my moon bucks for Hydrophobia or Comic Jumper.

Dowloadable binge for me lately – Lara Croft for review, then Shank, and working on finishing up DeathSpank.
On iPhone, I’ve been playing Monster Dash and Zombie Highway.

If I had to pick one console gaming trend in the last three years to preserve while all the others faded away Back to the Future -style, it would be downloadable games. The rise of XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, etc. have allowed all manner of glorious experiments to reach the masses. From creative new IPs that would never have been [...] -

Shoehorning a console experience into an iPhone is a lot like trying to fit a dead body into a suitcase — it’s doable, but it’s not always advisable. Many publishers think that just because the platform now has the graphical and processing capacity (barely) to handle SNES/Genesis era games that it means carte blanche for [...] -

I still play the hell out of Civ Rev on my iPhone. I remember a year ago a number of people laughing in my face when I told them I was getting an iPhone for the purpose of playing/covering iPhone games. Now every major site is covering them, and they’re a huge market that simply [...]

Sean Carey commented on the blog post We Need to Talk: Is There Life in the Air Combat Genre? 1 year, 6 months ago
Yeah, outside of inclusion in other genres, flight combat gameplay doesn’t to seem to have much juice anymore. The only exception I can think of in recent memory is Snoopy Flying Ace, and that’s not even really the same as what you’re describing.

There’s no two ways about it – gaming isn’t a cheap hobby. Luckily, the creeping rise of the digital distribution market is giving many budget-conscious gamers a break these days. XBLA, PSN, Wii-Ware, and others are all playing with how to offer alternatives to AAA titles, both in terms of content and cost. However, the [...] -

This game doesn’t tell you how to do ANYTHING. It’s one of the least intuitive games I’ve ever played, which is ridiculous. And yet, it’s a weird twist on Castlevania that might get me to come back.

If it wasn’t a gimped version compared to the Wii they would have gotten $60 out of me. Now? $0.

Finished up the latest PoP (worth a rental), started up Transformers, and I have Singularity waiting on deck.
On iPhone – Helsing’s Fire, SW: Battle for Hoth, Godville, and Castlevania Puzzle.

There is currently no PSN release announced, but it hasn’t been ruled out as far as I know. In order to be a “Summer of Arcade” release you are required to be exclusive to XBLA for at least one month.

I thought it was strange that they would also pay me to praise a Nintendo 1st party title (SMG2) and a PS3 exclusive (Demon’s Souls) in the same article, but hey – as long as the check clears, right?

Every time I hear the phrase “art game”, I throw up in my mouth a little bit. Don’t take that to mean that I believe games should avoid making a statement or attempting to make us feel and think – quite the contrary. It’s because whenever that phrase is invoked, all meaningful critique of the [...] -
