Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Portal 2 has sold 3 million…pathetic 7 months, 2 weeks ago
The humour could only fail if you a) had never played Portal in your life; or b) had the same mental integrity as a cabbage!

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post EA to replace paper manuals with digital copies 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to this, and I think I’d miss my new-game ritual of thumbing through the manual and smelling its must.

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post L.A. Noire’s (official) new trailer and your impressions 1 year ago
Looks like a cross between GTA and Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophesy, which is a winner in my book!

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post 2011: The Year of Sequels 1 year ago
There are some tasty sequels on the way – I can’t wait to see how they wrap up the Gears of War trilogy! There is probably a decent proportion of original titles coming out too, it’s just that they don’t get the same publicity. Sequels stand out because they are familiar and it’s difficult to [...]

Steven Shepherd wrote a new blog post: Gamer Limit Review: Kinectimals 1 year, 1 month ago
It doesn’t take sleuthlike perception to realize that Kinectimals’ target audience isn’t dissimilar to that of, say, Hannah Montana (no, not paedophiles!). That said, the game’s message boards are beginning to sound like a Kinectimaloholics Anonymous meeting for 20-and 30-something-year-old addicts, with cries of “I’m a 35-year-old male and I…[Read more] -

I’m quite enjoying KA, except for the bit where I have to rearrange 2 sofas and a coffe table before I can play it.

Steven Shepherd wrote a new blog post: Shenmue gets a third instalment 1 year, 4 months ago
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the stunted ‘series’ , so it will be unsurprising that I am delighted Ryo Hazuki will once again be donning his iconic tan jacket in a brand new Shenmue title. Today, Sega Japan marked the end of the abandonment of the series by announcing what its publicity machine is [...] -
Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Gamer Limit Hardware Review: PlayStation Move Controller 1 year, 4 months ago
I got to grips with Move a couple of days ago, and I must admit, I was impressed with the accuracy: there’s much less of the wobbling that you get with the Wii’s on-screen cursor.

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Albion rejoices as Fable III’s achievement list is revealed 1 year, 4 months ago
The challenges achievements present add real substance to games like Fable, and I can see myself chasing 100% once again in this – the Henry VIII one is genius!

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Gamer Limit Review: Plants vs. Zombies (XBLA) 1 year, 4 months ago
Despite consistently rave reviews I inexplicably haven’t tried the franchise yet, but I do have some points burning a hole in my, erm, hard drive, and this looks like a serious contender to soak them up!

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Microsoft unveils a new 360 controler featuring a “transforming” d-pad 1 year, 5 months ago
I’m surprised this didn’t happen a lot sooner – the 360 pad is easily the best I’ve ever used but the d-pad is just ridiculous!

Currently playing, and loving, Alan Wake. It really reminds me of Fahrenheit.

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post We Need to Talk: When Will We Download ALL of our Games? 1 year, 5 months ago
I think, as you point out, that there will come a point at which all major releases are distributed both physically and digitally, and the vast majority of people will opt for the hard copy due to the concerns stated above. It all depends on whether publishers choose to ignore this, but download-only consoles would [...]

Steven Shepherd commented on the blog post Retro Reunion: Panzer Dragoon Saga 1 year, 6 months ago
It’s a real shame that you found it anything less than incredible, Jamie. I played it shortly after release and it really did blow me away. Perhaps it’s one of those games that depreciates over time as the industry moves forward; for starters, I remember the graphics being a little more polished than they look [...]

Some dismiss it as mere myth; others believe it was part of an elaborate conspiracy fabricated by Sony to improve the credibility of its inaugural console. Well, allow me to let you in on a little secret, friend: the Sega Saturn did exist. And it was good! Yes, it may have been the ginger kid [...] - Load More
