Kongai is okay... but I can't really get into it. I like to collect the cards by completing the achievements, but playing the game itself is a little awkward and is a little too rock-paper-scissors. If they come up with more cards with more warriors and cool effect cards, it'll be a lot better. For now, though... it's a little too limited for me.
From what I can see, Kongai is an alright game, with good points and bad, no glaring neutralities in there.
+ Mind-reading focus. You're encouraged to outthink your opponent.
+ Online matches and games.
+ Good artwork
+ Lots of strategy involved in setup.
- A good strategy can be let down by the luck element
- Some overpowered cards
- Somewhat glitchy online connection
Overall, I think the game had promise, but could have done a damned sight better with what it had, especially regarding the luck system. I would rather have an attack cost more energy to perform than to have it randomly fail on me at the worst moment.

If there wasn't such a high luck element, people would just go around noob killing and getting easy kills. At least this way new members have at least some of a chance.
And regarding overpowered cards, the official word is that there are no 'overpowered' cards, and that all cards are good if played correctly. IMO, some cards suit people better than others, and so to that person they would be perceived as better than other cards.
It is very glitchy, and there is a lot to be improved in the future, but eventually it should be an amazing game.
To use a -highly specific- example, Tafari vs. Onimaru. If you play Tafari well enough, Oni can't do anything to save himself, especially if you use Deadly Poison.

Yes, i would agree that Tafari is a very strong card, not only against Onimaru but most other characters.
But for most other cards, they will be good against some cards and bad against others, so none could be said to be overpowered to the point they are unbeatable. That said, with enough skill you can play a card strengths so well that it would seem unbeatable.
This all comes down to the individual player however, and not the cards themselves.

I love Tafari. He's way underrated.
The reason Tafari could be seen as overpowered is because of his innate no-switching ability.
Yes, lots of cards are good against some and poor against others, but the normal strategy is to switch out, a-la pokemon, against a card you're bad against. Tafari removes this option, so one can easily switch him out against an oponent he can easily beat, leaving them unable to switch.

I liked playing Kongai in beta testing but when it went public I stopped for some reason, I never really got into card games the only one I did was Necronomicon and that was just because the badges forced me to.

Ahhhh, no no no no no. I didn't read the thread before I went to the site and loaded the game. I just got un-addicted to Magic: The Gathering, don't think I want to go there :)
